"Campos de Castilla, that is the title of the book that my grandfather sitting on his armchair read every day and spent hours and hours immersed in that world in which Sevillian Antonio Machado nakes his soul to expose his concerns and obsessions.", Thus begins the story that has granted Lucía Cárdenas Soldán, a student of 2nd of ESO of the IES la Pedrera Blanca, Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz), to be the absolute winner of the eighth edition of the contest for the promotion of reading my readingFavorite book, organized by the Cajasol Foundation and the José Manuel Lara Foundation.A contest that this Thursday has given its awards in Seville to students, teachers and centers that have excelled between the 1.350 texts presented by more than 240 Andalusian centers.

This is not the first literary experience for the young winner, because at her young age she has already published a book entitled in the depths of the Ocean.Like her, seven other young people (one for each Andalusian province) have been awarded today.

In Seville, the winner has been Paula López Romero, 2nd ESO of the IES Italica (Santiponce).In her case, the young woman has opted to make in her story a thorough description of the work the winners who completes with personal experiences in paragraphs like this: "I have grown up in a family of readers and see my mother read and debate with her gatheringsAbout a good book is a very common practice at home.When I heard them talk about the winners, I thought that this would be my next reading book, since I wanted to enter that exciting story they talked about with such passion and so much female roots ".

Around about 60 schoolchildren have been present at the act.All minor winners have come accompanied by their relatives, professors and finalists.In addition, two courses have been present, one from the IES of Gerena and one from the Portaceli school.Three Andalusian teachers have also been awarded for their reading promotion projects.Yolanda Serrano is a professor at Colegio Portaceli and tells how from the center it has worked "this great initiative that we have included in the programming of the course as an activity that everyone had to do after reading a free choice work.The fact that it has been a reading chosen by them, as well as having the possibility of making a booktrailer with the review, has been key because it has really motivated them.Participate has prompted them to continue reading and writing ".

In the awards ceremony, authorities and personalities of the education and book sector have been present, such as María José Gálvez, general director of the book and promotion of the reading of the Ministry of Culture and Sports;Begoña Cerro, deputy director general for the promotion of the book, reading and the Spanish letters of the Ministry of Culture and Sports;Antonio Segura, General Director of Teacher Training and Educational Innovation of the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía;Eva Díaz Pérez, director of the Andalusian Center of Letters;Ricardo Sánchez, delegate of the Government of the Junta de Andalucía in Seville;Antonio Pulido, president of the Cajasol Foundation;José Manuel Lara García, president of the José Manuel Lara Foundation, and Diego Granja, director of the Dept.of Samsung Education.

VIII MY PR one Book Contest

The school contest my preferred book has arrived this year in its eighth edition, and has done it by beating one more year all the participation records, both students and registered centers.This contest, which remains one of the most prominent activities in the collaboration agreement signed between the two convening institutions, has been opened in the 2020/2021 course to all educational centers of the Andalusian community, whether they were public education,private or concerted.

Organized and convened by the Cajasol Foundation and the José Manuel Lara Foundation, both institutions continue to bet on the promotion of reading with the celebration of a contest in which, thanks to the writing of a small story - of no more than two pages or 3.000 characters with spaces -, students in the first secondary cycle can comment what their reading or preferred book has been.

Each school or institute participating in this contest - more than 1 have been received.350 texts from 240 centers - has selected the best works of the courses involved, which have been published on the website of the preferred book.The high number of colleges or institutes that have sent texts to the contest is an involvement of 25% of the total educational centers of the Andalusian community.

The young writers of the eight best texts presented (one for each province) have been awarded with a tablet that includes a digital selection of youth readings, as well as a book dedicated by Francesc Miralles, author of the little Ikigai (Editorial Destination), aBook for dreamers that provide the tools to answer questions that all adolescents are asked.Through the trip of the young protagonist and practical contents, readers learn to enhance their talents and discover their way in life.

For their part, finalist students (two for each province) have received a tablet with a digital selection of books.The institutes of the winning students have each a lot of books, while their teachers (one also for each province) have been awarded an electronic book.

For his part, the absolute winner, in this edition Lucía Cárdenas Soldán, has won an extraordinary prize: a trip to Madrid for three people, which includes three cultural visits in this city.The trip will be made based on the sanitary and security conditions that marks the Covid.

The VIII edition of my preferred book has also aimed to promote reading through other technological formats, such as Booktrailers.In this sense, it should be noted that more than 80 works have been received in this course, which represents a significant increase with respect to the previous course.In the awards ceremony, a special mention for two students selected for their audiovisual work has been made: the shadow of the wind, by María Silva, from the Colegio Portaceli de Sevilla, and good night stories for rebel girls, by Miranda Ruiz Durán, of the IES Antonio Machado of the line of the conception of Cádiz.
