In recent days, the story of a woman who supposedly got pregnant by a millionaire, thanks to the fact that she took a used condom out of a hotel garbage, has turned the internet around. What's more, even television news conductors commented on the alleged fact.
Definitely shocking but... it's fake!
Some users have taken advantage of the story to promote a message of hate, discrimination and misinformation about the feminist movement.

In addition, we consulted a specialist to find out if getting pregnant this way is possible and, not only did she tell us that this method is not effective, but that we could put our health at risk.
He claims that the woman in the story is called “Jane and she was 36 years old when she stole a used condom from the trash of a 24-year-old millionaire technician at the Las Vegas Hotel” .
He also describes how, four years later, Jane allegedly won a trial for proving that the young millionaire was the father of her child, for which she owed him child support.
As a result, we found that our fellow fact-checkers at Snops and Truth or Fiction had already debunked this story since 2019.
They found that just that year the website Ilhaya.com published an article recounting how 36-year-old Jane became a millionaire by getting pregnant by a wealthy young man who threw away a used condom.

This satirical publication also included the edited photo of the dark-skinned woman next to the used condom, who goes around even on open television programs (they censored her little eyes, yes).
And we're pretty sure it's satire because Africa Check fact-checkers also reviewed this fake story and translated from Zulu, the language spoken mainly in South Africa, the name of the website that made up the story.
So the story was concocted over two years ago by a satirical outlet from Africa, translated into multiple languages, and eventually turned into disinformation.
But wait, can you or can't someone get pregnant by putting sperm from a used condom inside your vagina? (cough, cough, information for Drake)
We asked Dr. María Eugenia Orozco, Coordinator of the Clinical Teaching Area of the Faculty of Higher Studies Zaragoza of the UNAM. She explained to us that basically this doesn't happen.
The doctor explained to us that it would be very risky to go around taking semen out of the garbage, starting because by not knowing the health status of the other person, we could become infected with a disease that is transmitted through fluids; besides that it is not at all hygienic to go rummaging through the garbage for things that we will later put inside our little body (eeeww).
The doctor also reminded us that during sexual intercourse, a person with a penis ejaculates inside the vagina deposit sperm.
So, according to the specialist, "it is difficult to believe that a pregnancy can be achieved with semen that only reaches the vagina after spending an unknown amount of time inside a condom."
This is so amazing because it turns out that sperm only survive two hours outside the human body.
And by the way, he explained to us that the artificial insemination wave is not something so easy, since it must be done at the moment in which the ovulation process occurs and with sperm that receive special treatment.
That is why it is super important to carry out this procedure with real health professionals, who take care of everything in great detail.
