The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (Murcia) has implemented and launched a facial recognition system in the R&D D+I of the Muralla del Mar Campus, to identify the authorized personnel of the facilities, while verifying that all thePeople who access are wearing the mask.

This solution is part of a pilot program that has begun the university to launch the new access control system of the facilities.In this way, the system will allow to know the level of occupation in the buildings, will support safety tasks and offer truthful information for evacuation plans and eviction contingencies.

The installed system uses a facial biometric identification procedure that requires the prior capture of users' biometric data.The captured data generate a unique geometric pattern for each user and invalid to rebuild their facial image.

The objective of the pilot program is to verify the correct operation of the installed equipment and the developed software, as well as identify possible improvements for the implementation of the system on a larger scale.
