Police from the Blindar Benito Juárez program detained photographer Edgar Garrido from the Reuters news agency for taking pictures at a health center in the Nonoalco neighborhood.
The argument was that a woman accused him of photographing her without her consent.
Agents from the Secretariat of Citizen Security detained him to take him to the public prosecutor's office in the Benito Juárez mayor's office, accused of sexual harassment. According to the first versions, it was a doctor from the health center who requested the arrest of the journalist.
Auxiliary policemen made the arrest and transferred him aboard the M61-BGD unit. Although the journalist, born in Chile but assigned to Mexico for years, denied the charges and tried to explain that he was doing journalistic search work, the police took him before the public prosecutor's office.
A video broadcast on social networks shows that the journalist is put into the truck, with his hands held behind his back with metal padlocks, and falls when he gets into the truck bed.
When he stumbles, he hits his head and foot because his hands are tied.
According to the reports, the accusing party and the journalist are at the FDS-6 agency to make their statement and determine the responsibilities of the case.
