Yeah, this is probably one of your biggest and most memorable days, we know. We also know that even if you stay calm, your nerves can betray you and cause you to forget some important things. So we took on the task of chatting with a bride shortly after her wedding and a wedding dress designer to come up with a list of tips and tricks that will serve as a guide to turn to a few hours before your big day. Make sure you have everything under control. Are you ready?:

-“Do a head-to-toe checkup the night before your wedding,” says Daniela Ferrari, who has dressed brides for more than eight years. “She Starts with the head: headdress, earrings, necklace, dress ironed and hung with good space. Bouquet, correct lingerie, garter and shoes”. Julia, one of our interviewed brides, for not having made a similar checklist, forgot part of her outfit: "My dress had two trains, but on the wedding day I forgot to put one on, I still looked very good but I didn't double check how the dress should go."

-Your dress ready. We already talked about the fact that the dress should be ironed and hung in a free space so that it maintains the best possible shape, although it is important to emphasize that for ironing, you should only use a portable steam iron to give it an even more perfect finish. If your dress has tulle, Ferrari recommends “spraying high hold hairspray a considerable distance down each layer of the tulle. This will cause the fabric to stay in its proper shape.”

Wedding Checklist: The Essential Tips You Need every bride should follow for her big day

-Prepare your kit. Although many times this task is solved by the wedding planner, if you do without it, do not hesitate to prepare a small bag with everything you need. “For the touch up a mascara, blush and lipstick. For breath, some mints or a spray. A pretty handkerchief to wipe the tears (of happiness). We want to keep everything to a minimum so a good tip is to soak a cotton ball with your perfume so that you have it on hand and it is not too bulky”. Daniela Ferrari recommends making a small sachet where you can put your essentials. “I recommend to my girlfriends that they also carry a small bottle with mint essential oil. If you put a couple of drops in your nose, it will help you stay awake”, concludes the designer.

-Don't suffer with the shoes. “The shoes are probably new, so scratch them up a day before so they don't slip. A good way to bake them is to use them at least three times before the wedding day, for a period of at least three hours”, mentions Ferrari. “I didn't take any chances,” says Edwina Trauwitz, who recently celebrated her wedding. She decided to wear short, wide-heeled shoes for better mobility. As a slightly unusual tradition, Daniela mentions that “you can place a piece of paper in your shoes with the names of your friends to whom you wish an upcoming wedding. This seems like a different option to me if you don't want to throw your bouquet.”

-The little big details. For Ferrari, "this is a time to perform small rituals that are very meaningful to you." For this reason, he gives us some ideas that you can do at the last moment and that will make you feel more secure: “To remember those who are not with you, you can place a photo or something that symbolizes their presence in the bouquet. If you have the time and inspiration, create a short letter dedicated to your groom for him to read before the ceremony. In other countries the votes are customary, but in many of Latin America they are not, so it will be a good detail. You can also dedicate a letter to the groom's parents, thanking them for all their support and love. This is a detail that will make them feel part of the ritual from now on”. Daniela also advises that something in your outfit “be versatile enough to be able to keep it and use it every time you celebrate your anniversary. Some detail that reminds you and transports you to that magical moment of the link and that you remember year after year. A good idea, according to Ferrari, are the shoes: "If you wear white shoes, those will go straight to the closet, but if you use them in other shades, it is probably that piece that you can use from now on."

-Take care of the cold. This tip is vitally important for fall brides. Edwina confesses that “I got ready with a coat, but a pashmina would have been more useful”. Daniela Ferrari emphasizes that “it must be a piece that covers you but gives you mobility, like a cashmere bolero”.

-Jewels ready. One day before your wedding, clean the jewelry you will wear so that it looks in top shape. A good home remedy, which you should apply especially to the engagement ring -one with which you have surely been around for some time-, is to “place aluminum foil on a small plate. Then empty a little vinegar and bicarbonate. Soak the jewelry and then gently brush it with a soft-bristled toothbrush.”

We are sure that these expert tips will help you emerge triumphant, more confident and prepared to take that big step. !! Congratulations!!
