Candidates who have appeared in JEE (Main) 2026 are eligible, and shortlisting for the SSB interview will be based on the candidate’s Common Rank List (CRL) in JEE (Main) 2026. Candidates awaiting their 10+2 results or who have not appeared in JEE (Main) 2026 are not eligible under this entry.
The date of birth must fall between 01 January 2008 and 01 January 2011 (both dates inclusive), which corresponds to the age band of 16.5 to 19.5 years as on 01 July 2027. Candidates must also meet the physical and medical standards laid down for officer entry, as checked during the SSB interview and subsequent medical examination.
Age Limit
| Category | Age Limit (as on 01/07/2027) |
|---|---|
| All candidates | 16.5 years to 19.5 years |
| Date of birth band | 01 January 2008 to 01 January 2011 (both dates inclusive) |

Salary / Pay Scale
On successful completion of training and commissioning as a Lieutenant, the pay is at Level 10 of the Defence pay matrix: Rs. 56,100 – Rs. 1,77,500 per month. In addition, officers receive Military Service Pay, Dearness Allowance, and other admissible allowances as per the rules for defence officers. During the training period at the pre-comm training academy, candidates receive a fixed stipend as per government rules.
Selection Process
The selection process for TES-57 runs in the following official order:
- Online applications and shortlisting: All applications received on the official portal are screened, and candidates are shortlisted for the SSB interview based on their JEE (Main) 2026 Common Rank List (CRL).
- SSB interview (Stage I and Stage II): Shortlisted candidates report to one of the Selection Centres at Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru or Jalandhar. Stage I is screening (Officer Intelligence Rating and Picture Perception and Description Test); Stage II covers psychology tests, group testing and the personal interview.
- Medical examination: Candidates recommended by the SSB board undergo a medical examination at the nearest military hospital. Candidates declared fit (permanent or temporarily unfit with appeal) proceed further.
- Final merit list: The final merit list is prepared on the basis of marks secured in the SSB interview, subject to medical fitness and available vacancies.
- Joining letter and pre-commission training: Merit-listed candidates receive the joining letter and report for pre-commission training.
Note: candidates must report for the SSB interview with original documents; discrepancies in the application details can lead to rejection at any stage. Only one application per candidate is accepted — submitting multiple applications may lead to cancellation of the candidature.
Exam Pattern
There is no written examination conducted by the Indian Army for this entry. Shortlisting is based on JEE (Main) 2026 CRL, and the selection test is the SSB interview as described above.
