UPSSSC JE Mechanical Recruitment 2026

The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), Lucknow has released the notification for the Combined Junior Engineer (Mechanical) Main Examination (PET-2025)/24 vide Advertisement No. 24-Exam/2026 dated 12 October 2026. A total of 1,156 vacancies of Junior Engineer (Mechanical) and equivalent technical posts will be filled across eight post categories in various Uttar Pradesh government departments. Online applications will be accepted from 03 November 2026 to 25 November 2026. Only candidates who appeared in UPSSSC PET-2025 and hold a valid PET-2025 scorecard can apply. The minimum qualification is a diploma in Mechanical Engineering or the relevant technical qualification for the selected post. The application processing fee of Rs. 25 for all categories is payable online through debit card, credit card, internet banking, IMPS, cash card or mobile wallet. The last date for fee payment is 25 November 2026; the deadline for fee reconciliation and application modification is 02 December 2026 (this is not an extension of the application deadline).

The 1,156 vacancies are spread across the Ground Water Department, Employment and Training Department, UPSRTC, Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Panchayati Raj Department and the Public Works Department of Uttar Pradesh. Candidates must check the department-wise vacancy distribution, reservation and post-specific requirements in the official notification before applying.

Candidates must have appeared in UPSSSC PET-2025 and must hold a valid PET-2025 scorecard issued by the Commission — this is the mandatory preliminary eligibility for all posts under this advertisement. In addition, candidates must hold a diploma in Mechanical Engineering or the relevant technical or engineering qualification prescribed for the selected post.

For Junior Engineer (Mechanical) positions, a diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an accepted equivalent discipline is the relevant qualification. For other posts — such as Assistant Storekeeper, Mechanic, Surveyor and Instructor-type posts — candidates must check the specific educational and technical qualifications mentioned for those posts in the official notification. Application authentication is done through the UPSSSC PET-2025 registration number and OTP-based authentication.

The minimum age is 18 or 21 years depending on the post, and the maximum age is 40 years as on 01 July 2026. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per Uttar Pradesh Government and departmental service rules.

The Junior Engineer (Mechanical) posts are in Pay Level-6 — Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 under the 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix. Other posts are in Pay Level 4, Level 5 or Level 6, ranging from Rs. 5,200–20,200 to Rs. 35,400–1,12,400, depending on the post and the applicable pay structure. Allowances such as dearness allowance and house rent allowance are admissible as per Uttar Pradesh Government norms. The exact pay level for each post is given in the official notification.

The main written examination will be an objective MCQ test comprising 100 questions to be answered in 120 minutes, with negative marking of 1/4 for each wrong answer.
