The Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, has invited online applications for 83 posts of Administrative Officer, Accounts Officer, Purchase and Stores Officer, Junior Personal Assistant, Technical Assistant and Technician ‘B’. The online application window is open from 1 November 2026 (11:00 AM) to 30 November 2026 (5:00 PM), and candidates must apply online through the SCL careers page. The 83 total is the sum of the post-wise tables in the advertisement (12 administrative + 30 Technical Assistant + 41 Technician ‘B’); the notification does not itself state a combined total. Read the notification for eligibility, selection process, pay scale and all other information.

The advertisement (No. SCL:DR:01/2026) is listed on the SCL careers page linked above. Candidates should read it in full before applying, as several trades have only one seat reserved for one category.

The cut-off date of 30 November 2026 stays the same even if the closing date is extended. The CBT date has not been announced in the notification.

Everyone pays the full fee first, online only. The Rs. 600 processing fee is never refunded. The refundable part is refunded only to women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates who actually appear in the Computer Based Test.

PwBD and ex-servicemen seats are horizontal, meaning they sit inside the totals above and are not extra. There is no ST seat in any Technician ‘B’ trade. SCL reserves the right to increase, reduce or cancel vacancies. The present posting is at SCL, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), Punjab, but SCL may post candidates anywhere in India, and technical staff must be ready to work round-the-clock shifts.

The approximate totals are the notification’s own figures. On top of basic pay, candidates get Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance (if SCL housing is not used) and transport allowance, and come under the National Pension System. Other benefits include medical cover for the employee and dependents, a subsidised canteen, children education allowance, group insurance and Leave Travel Concession.

Only Indian nationals can apply. The qualification, age and experience are all counted on 30 November 2026, and the qualifying result must have been declared on or before that date. Experience must have been gained after acquiring the essential qualification. A higher qualification or more experience gives no extra advantage.

For the three officer posts, supervisory experience must be at least Level 6 of the pay matrix, or a CTC of at least Rs. 10 lakh per annum, in a government office, public body or reputed commercial organisation. MBA degrees other than those named for the officer posts are not eligible. Candidates can apply for only one officer or JPA post. A candidate may apply for both Technical Assistant (any one of 11 disciplines) and Technician ‘B’ (any one of 12 trades), but each needs a separate application and fee.

  1. Officer posts: Computer Based Test, then Personal Interview (CBT 60 : Interview 40)
  2. Junior Personal Assistant: Computer Based Test (Part A only), then Stenography Skill Test
  3. Technical Assistant and Technician ‘B’: Computer Based Test, then trade-wise Skill Test (qualifying only — final selection is on CBT marks among candidates who qualify the skill test)
  4. Document Verification with originals and photocopies for shortlisted candidates

To qualify in the CBT, UR candidates need 50%, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and EWS 45%, and SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen 40%, as applicable to the post against reserved seats. Candidates are called for the next stage in a ratio of 1:5 to category-wise seats, with a minimum of 10. Qualifying the CBT alone does not guarantee a call. Ties are broken by Part B marks, then Part A marks, then older age. The CBT is held in eight cities; the skill test and interview are held only in Mohali or Chandigarh.

Marking is +1 per right answer and minus 0.25 per wrong answer. For the JPA skill test, candidates take dictation of 800 words at 80 words per minute in 10 minutes, then transcribe on a computer in 50 minutes (English) or 65 minutes (Hindi), with mistakes capped at 10% for UR and 12% for reserved categories, in Pitman’s shorthand style.

Government employees must produce an original No Objection Certificate to appear for the skill test or interview. A blurred photograph or signature, or an incomplete or incorrect form, leads to rejection, and no changes are allowed after submission.

  1. Open the SCL careers page linked in the Important Links box above, between 1 and 30 November 2026.
  2. Register with your full name, date of birth, valid email ID and mobile number to get a Registration Number.
  3. Fill the application form for one post (or one Technical Assistant discipline and one Technician ‘B’ trade, with separate applications).
  4. Upload your photograph, signature, left thumb impression and certificates in the prescribed size.
  5. Enter your bank account details carefully.
  6. Submit the form and pay the fee online by 30 November 2026 (5:00 PM).
  7. Print the registration confirmation form for future reference.
