The Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) has released Notification No. 07/G/ES/2026 dated 28 October 2026 for the recruitment of Mandal Planning and Statistical Officers (MPSO) and Assistant Statistical Officers (ASO) in the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Government of Telangana. A total of 102 posts are available under the zonal cadre. Online applications will open on 30 October 2026 and the last date to apply online is 27 November 2026 (5:00 PM). The minimum qualification is a Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics as a main subject, or a Bachelor’s Degree in a specified subject with Statistics as a paper. Read the notification for eligibility, selection process, pay scale and all other information.

All unemployed applicants are exempt from the examination fee of Rs. 80/-. The fee must be paid online through the payment gateway on the TGPSC website. One Time Registration (OTR) alone does not count as an application; a separate online application for Notification No. 07/G/ES/2026 is mandatory.

The 102 posts are distributed across the seven zones of Telangana under the zonal cadre, with 95% local reservation as per the applicable rules. The zone-wise distribution is given below.

Selected candidates must be willing to serve anywhere in the State of Telangana. The notification does not publish a separate MPSO and ASO vacancy split; the 102 posts cover both designations together.

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications, and the result of the qualifying examination must have been declared by 28 October 2026. Candidates awaiting their degree results as on that date do not meet the prescribed qualification requirement.

Candidates must also satisfy the local status, community and other conditions prescribed in the detailed notification, and must produce the relevant certificates at the document verification stage.

Age relaxation is available as per the rules: SC, ST, BC and EWS candidates get 5 years; Persons with Disabilities get 10 years; Telangana State Government employees get up to 5 years based on regular service; Ex-Servicemen get 3 years plus the length of service rendered; and NCC instructors get 3 years plus the length of service rendered.

The posts carry a pay scale of Rs. 36,750 – 1,06,990 per month, as applicable to the zonal cadre posts in the Directorate of Economics and Statistics. Allowances are admissible as per the Telangana State Government rules in force.

  1. Written Examination (Paper I and Paper II, objective type)
  2. Document Verification
  3. Final Merit List and Appointment

Selection is based on the marks obtained in the written examination, subject to the minimum qualifying marks and the applicable reservation rules. Appointment is subject to medical fitness and satisfactory character verification. There is no waiting list; unfilled and non-joining vacancies are carried forward as per the rules.

The examination is objective in type and is conducted in English and Telugu. Negative marking applies: 1/3 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. If the examination is conducted in multiple sessions, scores may be normalised as per the rules, and the results may be declared on a percentile basis. The minimum qualifying marks are: OC 40%, EWS 40%, sportspersons 40%, BC 35%, SC 30%, ST 30% and Persons with Disabilities 30%.

The examination centres listed in the notification are Hyderabad (including HMDA jurisdiction), Karimnagar, Khammam, Warangal and Nizamabad. The final centre allocation will be made by TGPSC.
