The High Court of Delhi has announced the dates for the Stage-I English Typing Test of the Senior Personal Assistant (Open) Examination 2026 and the Personal Assistant (Open) Examination 2026. The Senior Personal Assistant typing test will be held on 14 November 2026 (Saturday) and the Personal Assistant typing test on 27 November 2026 (Friday), both in Delhi-NCR. This drive fills 150 Group B posts — 117 Senior Personal Assistant and 33 Personal Assistant. The online application window ran from 15 September to 5 October 2026 and is now closed. Read the notification for eligibility, selection process, pay scale and all other information.

Reporting time, exam time, exam centre and instructions will be given on the admit card. Candidates must check the official website of the High Court of Delhi regularly for the admit card link and any change in the schedule.

Payment was accepted online only through UPI, net banking, credit card or debit card, and the fee was non-refundable. A separate application and a separate fee were required for each post, so candidates who applied for both SPA and PA paid the fee twice.

Both posts are Group B posts based at the High Court of Delhi in New Delhi. The vacancy totals include horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities — 7 seats in SPA and 3 seats in PA — which sit inside the totals above and are not extra posts. There is no General category vacancy for Personal Assistant; General category candidates could apply only for Senior Personal Assistant.

Candidates must hold a Graduation degree from a recognised University for both posts. Any stream of graduation is accepted. The qualification had to be held as on 5 October 2026, the closing date of the application window, and the final result must have been declared on or before that date.

For Senior Personal Assistant, candidates need English shorthand speed of 110 words per minute and English typewriting speed of 40 words per minute on computer, along with a good working knowledge of computers. For Personal Assistant, the requirement is English shorthand speed of 100 words per minute and English typewriting speed of 40 words per minute on computer, along with a good working knowledge of computers. The shorthand speed is the real filter in this recruitment, and every stage must be qualified individually — there is no exemption from any stage for any candidate.

Candidates must have been born not earlier than 2 January 1994 and not later than 1 January 2008. Only the date of birth recorded in the Matriculation certificate is accepted. PwBD relaxation applies only where the benchmark disability is 40% or more and belongs to a category for which a vacancy has been reserved in the notice.

Senior Personal Assistant is placed in Level 8 of the Pay Matrix of the 7th Central Pay Commission: Rs. 47,600 – 1,51,100. Personal Assistant is placed in Level 7 of the Pay Matrix of the 7th Central Pay Commission: Rs. 44,900 – 1,42,400. The vacancy notice states the pay level only and does not print a monthly rupee figure; the ranges above are the standard 7th CPC pay-matrix ranges for Levels 8 and 7. Selected candidates will also have to work at odd hours, on holidays and at the residential office of the Hon’ble Judge if so required, and must wear the prescribed uniform while on duty.

The selection process has four stages, in this order:

  1. Stage I — English Typing Test (Qualifying): 10 minutes on computer, minimum speed 40 words per minute in English. Mistakes up to 3% of the words typed are permitted. This stage is qualifying only and its marks are not counted in the merit list.
  2. Stage II — English Shorthand Tests: dictation followed by transcription on computer. Two dictation tests are given and the better one counts.
  3. Stage III — Main (Descriptive) Examination: 100 marks in 120 minutes.
  4. Stage IV — Interview: maximum 15 marks, with no minimum qualifying marks.

The final merit list is prepared from the marks of Stage II, Stage III and Stage IV. The medium of examination is English only. The tie-break order is shorthand marks, then Main examination marks, then Interview marks, then the older candidate. There is no re-evaluation or re-checking of scores at any stage, and no provision for a scribe or compensatory time in any part of the examination.

In the shorthand test, 4 marks are deducted per full mistake and 2 marks per half mistake. Mistakes permitted are 27.5 for SPA and 25 for PA; crossing that limit means disqualification. The pass marks in the Main (Descriptive) Examination are 50% for General candidates and 45% for reserved category candidates. The schedule in the typing test notices is tentative, and any change is communicated only through the official website.

Candidates must carry the following to the typing test:

At the application stage, candidates uploaded a JPEG passport photograph (100–200 KB, about 3.5 cm wide by 4.5 cm high, not more than three months old), a left thumb impression (50–200 KB) and a signature (50–150 KB), along with a live photograph captured through webcam or mobile. Failure to produce valid certificates or true copies when demanded results in cancellation of the candidature. No TA/DA is payable for appearing at any stage.

The online application window closed on 5 October 2026, so no new applications can be submitted. Candidates who applied should follow these steps to download the admit card:
